Kaluakoi Outfitters is located on the west side of Molokai, Hawaii. Our hunts take place on 3,000 acres of private, undeveloped land. This is open-range country with no fences and no crowds. Just real hunting.

What type of hunting do you offer?

We offer guided open-range axis deer hunts and axis deer bow hunting.

All hunts are:

- Fully guided

- Legally managed

- Focused on ethical harvest

- Designed for safety and success

Is axis deer hunting year-round in Hawaii?

Yes. Axis deer hunting is open year-round on Molokai. The peak season runs from May through July, which is when activity increases and bucks are more visible.

What animals can I hunt on a guided hunting trip?

This hunt is for Axis deer only.

Axis deer: Allowed

Black Buck (male or female): OFF LIMITS

Harvesting a Black Buck carries a $3,000 fine with no exceptions.

Are all Kaluakoi Outfitters’ hunts guided?

Yes, all hunting here is guided.

Our guides are second- and third-generation Molokai hunters with deep knowledge of the land and animals. You are never hunting alone. This guarantees a better and more successful hunting experience.

What is included in a Kaluakoi Outfitters hunting package?

Our all-inclusive packages include:

- Airport pickup

- Lodging on the property

- Firearm sight-in

- Guided hunts

- Outdoor kitchen for self-prepared meals

- Time to shop for food upon arrival

Typical stay:

2 nights / 3 days

3 nights / 4 days

How many animals can I harvest?

Each hunter is allowed 2 animals total:

- One buck under 27" and one doe

- OR two does

Any buck 27" or larger will incur a trophy fee.

NOTE: Depending on the time of year, the male deer may not have antlers or they may be in velvet. Animals in velvet are off limits, unless your guide advises it is fine to shoot it.

What kind of terrain should I expect on Molokai?

The terrain on Molokai is rugged and real.

Expect to be prepared for:

- Rocky ground

- Thick thorny brush

- Uneven footing

Good boots matter.

What firearms are allowed for hunting on Molokai?

Allowed firearms with scopes:

Bolt-action rifles

Lever-action rifles

Big game calibers only

Not allowed:

AR-style or tactical rifles

Shotguns

.223 caliber firearms

Suppressors

These rules support:

Hunter safety

Can I rent a firearm on Molokai?

Yes. We offer a wide assortment of firearms available for rent.

We also have:

- A target range up to 600 yards

- Firearm sight-in before hunting

Are archery hunters allowed on Molokai?

Yes. Bow hunters are welcome on our hunts.

Archery hunts take place on private land with a designated buffer zone for safety. This is a true spot-and-stalk experience.

Do I need a Hawaii hunting license?

Yes. A valid Hawaii hunting license is required.

If you have a hunter education number, you may qualify for an exemption.

What safety rules are enforced for hunting trips on Molokai?

Safety is non-negotiable. Key rules include:

- Firearms must be unloaded when not in use

- Firearms must be unloaded in UTVs

- No chambered rounds while riding

- Barrels always pointed in a safe direction

- Hunter orange required in the field

- Always follow your guide’s instructions

Failure to follow safety rules ends the hunt.

What should I bring on a Molokai hunting trip?

Required items:

- Ear protection

- Knife

- Backpack

- Drinking flask

- Long pants

- Sturdy boots

- Hunter orange shirt or vest

- Sunglasses

- Ziploc bags

Do not wear shoes inside lodging rooms and make sure to bring slippers or sandals.

Is food provided?

No. Guests are responsible for meals and drinks. We allow time to shop upon arrival.

Forgot food?

- $100 fee per guest

- Plus a 10% convenience fee

Limited supplies are available for purchase on-site.

What happens after I harvest an animal?

Your guide will:

- Assist with deboning

- Ice your meat

- Help prepare it for transport

Hunters are responsible to pack their meat in their own ziploc bags or similar. Option for outfitter packing meat for a fee.

We do not offer full processing on-site.

Can I bring meat home?

Yes, but with rules:

- Meat must be frozen

- Fresh meat is not accepted by airlines

- Maximum hard cooler height: 14.5 inches.

Soft cooler bags are recommended.

Chest freezers are available on-site.

How do I get to you? What airlines fly to Molokai?

Mokulele Airlines (Southern Airways) is currently the only carrier.

Book early. Flights fill fast.

What is your deposit and cancellation policy?

50% deposit is required at booking.

72-hour cancellation notice is required.

No refunds unless your slot is rebooked.

Hunting trip insurance is recommended.
